Ahnu Lucia

I saw this shoe a year ago in Paddy Pallin. It was $149 and I didnt need another shoe. Also I had just bought a shoe when my mum visited and I couldn't justify another one.

I like to think that I have the best shoe collection. I have. All my shoes are just the best fitting walking shoes.I have honed my collection so that I only have the most comfortable, durable, everyday walking shoes. I have some older ones which look pretty and they do because they look new because I never wear them. I don't wear them because they pale compared to my more recent purchases.

My shoes are mainly merrels but also keen, camper, salomon, a german brand, I have one sketcher which is a great slip on shoe but it does hurt my toe and more merrels. So they are all walking shoes, practical, comfortable and excellent for carrying babies and walking over rocks with no risk of slipping. I think this will do me good in my old age.

I tried explaining to my 80 year old aunt that her leg hurts because her shoes don't fit her. Her foot spends more time trying to grip her slipper so it can grip the floor properly and all that effort hurts her whole leg. I couldn't explain this because she has never worn a good shoe and just doesn't know the difference. Then again, I don't have someone to massage my legs everyday, like she does, so I have to know about good shoes.

Then one day I found this shoe. The picture doesn't say anything. If you come by this shoe, try it on. It is the best thing since merrels came out. PP had a sale and this shoe was 60% off. I had to get it!

The Ahnu Lucia looks like a normal slip on shoe. The sole though has the cushioning properties of a sneaker. Hidden beneath the upper is a thick cushion that makes it seem like you are walking on air. Amazing. I look forward to discovering how long the cushion lasts and just how perfect an everyday shoe it is.

BTW, there are 2 types of merrels these days. One that looks good, and one that walks good.

And Ahnu has another shoe Benicia with a strap across for more comfort without the slip on convenience (for Asian lifestyles).

The new performance

Quite clever, her performance using a screen behind her to amplify the actions.

The first time I heard this song was on you tube, her performance on the french X factor program. The song itself does not sound like a great song, but Beyonce's dance performance with the music makes it a very powerful song. Her choreography and her signature dance movements go together so well to this. Although her moves are the same as before, the steps used together with this 'nearly there' song comes together well. I couldn't imagine liking this song if it played by itself, on the radio.

I wondered how it would look if I watched her perform the same song at a different place. Would the dance movements become boring or repetitious? But this performance at  Billboard awards threw me. It was refreshing to see the use of multimedia screen behind her to be part of the performance. Again her dance complemented the song to make the powerful message  - Who runs the world...

True Blood

After Twilight I watched True Blood. Bloody fantastic! Loved it, got hooked.

I then read that the writer is an Alexander Woo a script writer from Hong Kong. I wonder if it's his experience from writing always-feel-good tame Asian scripts that has an influence over the way the story is set and that that is what makes the show so appealing. The story is very complex yet set very simply and there is nothing too scary or too gory, although there are shocks and lots of gore. Every time the story takes you to somewhere scary or gross it stops short of scaring me. I feel safe watching the show, which is why I enjoy it. I know I will not be taken anywhere uncomfortable and too scary or gross. so I can enjoy the story at peace. Every episode is complete, entertaining, feels good and most importantly logically sound. This is important to me, as I could never enjoy a movie with obvious holes in it. like Die Hard: how can you pop your head out of runway while a plane is taking off and it doesnt affect your ear drums. Every episode ends in a high suspense. There is nothing to do but to watch the next episode to find out what happens. Love it.
